Ontario Grape and Wine Research Incorporation Launches Request for Proposals Web Link

St. Catharines, ON (Friday, May 1, 2009): The Ontario Grape and Wine Research Incorporation announced today it has officially launched the “Request for Proposals” web link through the Grape Growers of Ontario and Wine Council of Ontario web sites.

The Ontario Grape and Wine Research Incorporation (OGWRI) was recently formed with the objective to enhance the profitability and sustainability of the Ontario grape and wine industry through focused research and development opportunities. OGWRI has established priorities under three key pillars: viticulture, oenology and market research.

“The Ontario grape and wine sector has demonstrated tremendous success over a relatively short period of time but to remain competitive we will require a robust approach to identify and meet global competition,” said OGWRI Board Chair and grower Matthias Oppenlaender. “From MALB to cold winters, Ontario’s grape and wine industry needs to confront its challenges by strategically investing in research and innovation that will strengthen the value chain,” added John Paroschy, Chair of the OGRWI Technical Committee.
