Canada's own "Grapes, Don Cherry, will bring his extraordinary commentary, as speaker, to the Scotiabank Celebrity Luncheon
St. Catharines, ON (Thursday, July 24, 2008): The Grape Growers of Ontario in partnership with Scotiabank, Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation and the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival are pleased to announce that Canadian TV and radio personality - Don Cherry - will be the speaker at the Celebrity Luncheon which kicks off the 57th annual Niagara Wine Festival. The event will take place at Club Roma in St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 17th at 11:30 a.m.
Bill George Jr., Chair of the Grape Growers of Ontario said, “we are delighted to have a Canadian icon who has a unique style of commentary as our Luncheon speaker and it is with pleasure that we welcome Don Cherry to open celebrations for the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival’s Niagara Wine Festival.” Debbie Zimmerman, CEO of the Grape Growers of Ontario said, “we are pleased to have Don Cherry, Canada’s own “Grapes” join us and share in celebrating Ontario’s world-class grape and wine industry.”
Don Cherry is the co-host of Coach’s Corner intermission segment on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, a well-known author, a syndicated radio commentator for The Fan Radio Network and the creator of the Don Cherry’s Rock’Em Sock’Em video series.
“We look forward with great anticipation to Don Cherry’s candid perspectives,” said Larry Graber, Agricultural Banking – Relationship Manager, Scotiabank. “We’re delighted to have such an outspoken and well-known speaker to join us in September at our 25th annual Scotiabank Celebrity Luncheon,” Graber continued.
