Grape Growers of Ontario Celebrates 60 Years of Grape Growing Excellence
St. Catharines, ON: Today the Grape Growers of Ontario is celebrating 60 years of grape growing excellence through an industry party at Montebello Park in St. Catharines. What started as a co-operative of grape growers 60 years ago has grown into today’s organization, the Grape Growers of Ontario, which boasts a membership of over 600 registered grape growers. The first meeting of the Board of Directors was held on September 23, 1947.
Grape Growers of Ontario Board Chair, Bill George Jr. and Debbie Zimmerman, Chief Executive Officer of the Grape Growers of Ontario extend congratulations to the grape growers in Ontario for achieving 60 years of grape growing excellence. The industry party was held as part of the Niagara Wine Festival activities.
We thank our 60th Anniversary industry party sponsors: Meridian Credit Union, Mori Vines Inc., Lakeview Harvesters Inc., Niagara Grape – Louth and Niagara Orchards, Gemmrich W. Nursery Inc., Niagara Grape and Wine Festival, Wine Council of Ontario, Ontario Pork Board, Agra-Turf, and Jensen Cheese.
The Grape Growers of Ontario is the official organization that represents over 600 registered grower members of nearly 15.7 million vines on 17,800 acres in the province’s four viticulture areas: Niagara Peninsula, Pelee Island, Lake Erie North Shore and Prince Edward County and is the official lobby organization for our members.
