The Grape Growers of Ontario, in partnership with Meridian Credit Union, Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, and the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival, are pleased to announce that Steve Smith, aka ‘Red Green,’ will be the speaker at the 2012 Celebrity Luncheon which kicks off the 61stAnnual Niagara Grape and Wine Festival. The event will take place at Club Roma in St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 19that 11:30 a.m.
“The Grape Growers of Ontario are thrilled to have a well-known, local Canadian icon speaking at this year’s Celebrity Luncheon,” says Bill George, Chair of the Grape Growers of Ontario. “As we celebrate the Grape Growers of Ontario’s 65thAnniversary, Red Green will bring a truly Canadian view to this year’s luncheon,” says Debbie Zimmerman, CEO of the Grape Growers of Ontario.
Steve Smith is the creator and lead actor of The Red Green Show, one of the longest running Canadian television comedy series of all time. The show has been nominated for an incredible 27 Gemini nominations. Steve has won three of them, including the Earle Grey Lifetime Achievement Award. Steve became a Member of the Order of Canada in 2006.
Also an award-winning author, Steve’s latest book, “How to Do Everything (From the Man Who Should Know),” has already sold over 100,000 copies.
Steve and his wife, Morag, live in Hamilton, Ontario, and are avid promoters of the area.
